TotalEnergies awards QAPCO for JV Operational Excellence.

“This award recognizes the Company’s joint ventures who have a high Operational excellence in performance”

In acknowledgement of its outstanding operational performance, TotalEnergies selected Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) Q.P.J.S.C. as the recipient of its Joint Venture (JV) Operational Excellence Award for 2021 in the Middle East, Asia and Africa Regions.

This award is nominated by TotalEnergies Management Committee in Refining and Petrochemicals, and recognizes the Company’s joint ventures who have a high-performance in Operational Excellence.

In a special ceremony, Francois Good, Senior Vice President - Refining & Petrochemicals  at TotalEnergies presented the award to Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) in the presence of senior officials from both Companies.

This award recognizes the outstanding operational performance of QAPCO.  Safety results, within budget, availability above budget and a remarkable performance on the Mega Turnaround & Inspection (T&I) are world class performances, said Francois Good, Senior Vice President - Refining & Petrochemicals at TotalEnergies.  “I would like to extend my congratulations to the entire QAPCO leadership and teams involved, and we hope to continue these successes in the future”.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Mulla recognized the contribution of al QAPCO staff, contractors and stakeholders, and praised their proactive efforts to achieve Operational Excellence. “We are delighted to be the recipients of the 2021 TotalEnergies JV Operational Excellence award which demonstrate our firm commitment and dedication to safety, reliability and cost discipline and which is driven by continuous improvement and best practices. I am especially proud of the QAPCO teams who are committed to create value for all our consumers and shareholders. Together, we are working to support Qatar in its ambitious objectives to meet growing energy demands”, he said during the event.

Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) is one of the world's largest producers of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), derived from oil and natural gas.

TotalEnergies has a 20% stake in the company, which holds an ethylene plant cracker with a production capacity of 840 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa), and three LDPE plants with a total combined production capacity of over 780 ktpa and a Sulfur plant with a production capacity of 70 ktpa.

QAPCO has adopted safety management process  which puts people and equipment safety at the forefront of every decision, and involves stringent safety processes, high standards, strict compliance, comprehensive training, capability building, and vigilant monitoring.

In 2021, they underwent a mega turnaround and inspection (T&I) in their plants involving almost 3 million man-hours, which was optimized through safe operations, and cost-efficiency.
