Innovative Solar Energy Solution

Since 2018, TotalEnergies began a research collaboration in Qatar to test photovoltaic components under harsh desert conditions. Studies focus on performance, degradation, and the impact of dust soiling.

The research allowed the monitoring of its performance in real time, and validation of modelling results obtained from simulation tools. Such outdoor testing aims to improve performance and reliability of TotalEnergies' PV components installed in desert climatic conditions.

About TotalEnergies Research Center Qatar

Established in 2009, the TotalEnergies Research Center-Qatar (TRC-Q) is one of TotalEnergies’ worldwide Research and Development Centers.  

The Center occupies a modern, architectural building within the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP).

TRC-Q focuses on the fields of oil, gas, renewable energies and sustainability, with the aim of improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.  

The transversality of our presence in Qatar, from upstream to downstream, as well as renewables, is reflected in TRC-Q’s efforts as it places sustainability and innovation at the heart of its actions.
